SAINT PAUL, MN – The U.S. Women’s National Team continued its dominant run of form on May 31, defeating China PR 3–0 at Allianz Field in front of a sold-out crowd. The match showcased the depth, intensity, and evolving chemistry of a team determined to set the tone for the summer.
The scoring opened in the 28th minute when Catarina Macario found the net after a chaotic sequence in the box. The goal marked her 11th for the national team and third of 2025, solidifying her place as the squad’s top scorer this year.
Just seven minutes later, Macario turned provider. She slipped a clever ball through to midfielder Sam Coffey, who calmly buried it for her second international goal—both of which have come against China. The U.S. held a comfortable 2–0 lead going into halftime, dominating possession and tempo.
In the second half, Lindsey Heaps put the match away in the 54th minute with a clinical header off a precise assist from Michelle Cooper. The goal, Heaps’ first at the senior international level, capped off a strong offensive display from the Americans.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce earned a clean sheet in just her second appearance for the senior squad. The U.S. defense, anchored by a returning Naomi Girma, smothered China’s attack, limiting them to just four total shots and only two on goal.
One of the night’s most touching moments came in the 70th minute when 32-year-old Lo’eau LaBonta stepped onto the field, becoming the oldest debutant in USWNT history. Her journey to this moment inspired fans and teammates alike.
The victory extended the team’s perfect record at Allianz Field to 4–0–0, including three shutouts. It also reinforced the team’s commanding historical record over China, improving to 39 wins in 61 matchups.
Next up, the USWNT faces Jamaica on June 3 in St. Louis as they continue to prepare for Olympic qualification and test the evolving roster mix of veterans and rising stars.
