KANSAS CITY, MO – MAY 11: The Kansas City Current put on a show in front of a packed house at CPKC Stadium, dominating Bay FC 4–1 in a statement win that underscored their title ambitions and fortified their home-field invincibility.

The night started with fireworks just three minutes into the match when Hailie Mace slipped a clean ball to Bia Zanerrato, who slotted home her second goal of the season. From there, Kansas City never looked back.

Debinha owned the first half, first finishing a composed shot in the 33rd minute, then curling a stunning free kick past Bay FC’s keeper in the 38th to give the Current a commanding 3–0 lead at halftime. It was a vintage performance from the Brazilian midfielder.

Bay FC showed some fight in the second half, briefly clawing back with a 55th-minute goal from Penelope Hocking off a corner kick. But Kansas City answered almost instantly.

Temwa Chawinga, continuing her red-hot form, buried her fourth goal of the season in the 61st minute off another assist from Mace. It marked her third consecutive game with a goal and helped seal the result before the final whistle.

The win was a milestone for head coach Vlatko Andonovski, who logged his 90th regular-season NWSL victory—second-most all-time. The sellout crowd of 11,500 included a special appearance by “Ted Lasso” stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, who helped spark the signature “KC Baby!” chant.

With the victory, Kansas City climbed back to the top of the NWSL standings. They now turn their attention to a heavyweight showdown on the road against the Orlando Pride on May 14—an early-season clash with playoff implications.

The Current remain unbeaten at home with a remarkable 20-1-3 record since moving to CPKC Stadium. Between their attacking depth, midfield control, and home-field magic, Kansas City looks every bit the contender.
