The Connecticut Sun showcased their veteran poise and defensive intensity Monday night as they hosted the Indiana Fever in a packed Mohegan Sun Arena. The Fever, riding a wave of recent momentum, struggled early to match the Sun’s physicality and tempo. Connecticut jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter and never trailed again, though the Fever managed to keep the game competitive through much of the first half.

Caitlin Clark led the Fever with 17 points, adding six assists and four rebounds in a performance that balanced playmaking with tough shot-making. However, Clark faced constant pressure from Connecticut’s backcourt defenders, who forced key turnovers and limited her open looks from three. Aliyah Boston contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, but foul trouble hampered her ability to establish a consistent inside presence.

For the Sun, DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas once again proved why they’re among the league’s most reliable stars. Bonner scored a team-high 21 points, while Thomas nearly notched another triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Connecticut’s defensive schemes focused on switching quickly on the perimeter and collapsing on Boston in the post, making Indiana’s offense sputter during key stretches.

The Fever managed to cut the lead to eight late in the third quarter, igniting brief hope among Indiana fans. But a late run by the Sun, powered by strong bench play from Tyasha Harris and Tiffany Hayes, pushed the lead back into double digits. Indiana’s turnovers—19 total on the night—proved costly, allowing Connecticut to dominate transition scoring and regain full control by the fourth quarter.

With the win, the Sun improved their home record to 9-2 and remain in firm control near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. The Fever, while showing growth and flashes of offensive brilliance, will need to regroup quickly as they head into a tough stretch of road games. Still, Indiana continues to show promise with its young core, even as growing pains remain part of the journey.
