The contest began with Baylor launching an 18-0 blitz before Lindenwood could register its first field goal, striking fear early in what appeared to be a dominant home showing. The drive was anchored by Scott’s efficient 9-of-16 shooting and flawless free-throw performance, immediately establishing control in front of the Bears’ fans.
Lindenwood, however, refused to fade away. The Lions narrowed a sizeable gap thanks to a gritty third quarter that featured a 15-0 run carrying over into the fourth, closing the deficit to 63-57. At that juncture, the Bears responded with timely shots from Scott and Fontleroy — including a pair of three-pointers — and locked Lindenwood scoreless in the final three minutes to seal the win.
Despite the loss, Lindenwood’s Ellie Brueggemann stood out with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including four three-pointers, while teammates Gracie Kelsey and Gracy Wernli each chipped in 10. The Lions showcased fight and flashes of three-point accuracy (40.9 % from deep) but struggled overall from the field (37.7 %) and were out-rebounded 34-27.
With this win, the Bears improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 at home, reaffirming their early-season Big 12 contender status. The Lions dropped to 1-1 but displayed enough promise to suggest further improvement ahead as they continue their non-conference schedule.
