In one of the most thrilling matchups of the WNBA season, the Minnesota Lynx edged out the Chicago Sky 95-92 in an overtime battle on July 14. Napheesa Collier led the charge for the Lynx with 29 points and 12 rebounds, dominating on both ends of the court. The All-Star forward showed composure in the clutch, scoring six of Minnesota’s 11 overtime points to seal the victory.

The Sky, playing in front of a loud home crowd, put up a resilient fight behind standout performances from Marina Mabrey and Angel Reese. Reese notched her 14th double-double of the season, finishing with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Mabrey added 21 points, including a game-tying three late in regulation that sent the contest into the extra period.

Minnesota’s bench proved to be the difference-maker, outscoring Chicago’s reserves 22-10. Dorka Juhász and Courtney Williams brought energy and key baskets off the bench, helping the Lynx weather a late fourth-quarter push by the Sky. Defensively, the Lynx held Chicago to just 3-of-10 shooting in overtime.

Chicago missed a golden opportunity to steal the win in regulation, failing to convert on a fast-break opportunity in the final seconds. Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon praised her team’s grit but emphasized the need to close out games more effectively, especially against playoff-caliber opponents like Minnesota.

The win keeps Minnesota firmly in the hunt for a top-four seed in the playoffs, improving their road record to 7-3. With Collier continuing to play at an MVP level and the supporting cast stepping up, the Lynx are positioning themselves as a serious contender in the second half of the WNBA season.
